About Us

About Us

The New Hamburg Concert Band (NCB) is a multi-generational ensemble open to anyone who loves playing music. Our repertoire spans a wide range of genres, including Classical, Marches, Broadway Classics, Swing, Jazz, Big Band, Popular Movie Theme Songs, and more.

We meet on Tuesday evenings throughout the year to practice and prepare for upcoming performances. With 29 members, we perform 7 concerts and participate in 5 parades annually. We focus on fostering community and supporting local organizations that may not have the budget for entertainment.

Our purpose is to provide an opportunity for community members to share and hone their musical abilities while bringing joy to local audiences. We operate throughout the Waterloo Region, including Baden, New Hamburg, New Dundee, Kitchener, and Waterloo. We also perform in nearby towns like Shakespeare, Stratford, and Tavistock.

We believe that our core mission of developing and supporting musical talent and culture aligns with Wilmot Township’s Arts and Cultural Strategy. Join us as we continue to share the joy of music with our community!

Our History

The New Hamburg Concert Band, originally known as the New Hamburg Citizens Band, began in the fall of 1894. Comprised mainly of local residents and musicians from surrounding communities, the band has been a staple in the region’s musical scene for over a century.

Throughout the years, the band has brought its music to local parades, senior homes, fall fairs, and numerous other community events. In warmer weather, you can find the band playing at the bandstand by the river on Tuesday evenings.
